Manga Review: Charm Angel

Title: Charm Angel
Author: Mori Chikako
Release: Monthly
Status: Finished
Genre: Shoujo, Comedy
Art: B
Originality: A
Story: A
Characters: S
Humor: A
Action: B

Impression: This is about a brash and wild young girl who wishes to be seen as an angel, figuratively and literally. She gets her chance as she becomes a candidate to become an actual angel in a ritualistic competition held every 1000 years. She has to collect charms by completing these missions to fulfill peoples’ prayers assigned to her in order to reach that goal. She is accompanied by an ill-fated airheaded young angel as her assistant and their supervisor who watches over the two of them. Despite how cheesy the idea sounds this manga has a brilliant mix of story, humor and character development. There’s great chemistry between the main characters and there are a lot of good ideas thrown into the story too. I really recommend checking this out despite how outdated it may seem.
