Manga Review: Tokyo Innocent

Photobucket

Title: Tokyo Innocent
Author: Narumi Naru
Release: Monthly
Status: Ongoing
Genre: Shoujo, Supernatural, Romance
Art: B
Originality: B
Story: B
Characters: A
Humor: B
Action: B

Impression: This is about the half-demon heir of a group of fox demons of an island not too far off the coast of Japan who has been tasked by his village elders to go out and find a bride that’s strong enough to replenish their bloodline. He finds that his community is severely out of touch with modern society so he finds difficulty in finding a suitable bride. The other protagonist is a girl who has a bloodline that attracts demons and spirits to her even though she doesn’t want to believe in such things. They find each other and he stays at her house at the hospitality of her sister until he can find his bride. The author has a decent sense of humor and knows how to keep the readers entertained despite it not really excelling anywhere outside of the characters. I like how the main guy is actually considering what criteria he’ll decide his bride on and doesn’t immediately fall for the main girl and the main girl doing her best to adapt to having the world of demons finally integrating into her daily life after all her attempts to deny it. I’m looking forward to see how this story will develop since only the early chapters are out.
