Manga Review: Half & Half

Photobucket

Title: Half & Half
Author: Seo Kouji
Release: Oneshot
Status: Finished
Genre: Romance, Seinen
Art: B
Originality: B
Story: B
Characters: A
Humor: B
Action: B

Impression: This is about a guy and a girl who get run over by a truck but god offers them a chance to live again but that only applies to one of. For the next seven days, the pair have to stay near each other constantly and decide which of them will be the one to get a new lease on life. I remember someone telling me that this was sad but I honestly didn’t feel sympathy for the characters. The story was very simple and could have easily been done with far fewer pages so I feel like the author could have done so much better with this idea. It would have worked out better if it was about the selfishness and conflicts that two individuals would deal with but to use it for a short unfulfilled romance story was a bit of a waste. That’s just me though, it is meant to be painful for the characters but the author doesn’t express it properly through the manga.
