Manga Review: Magical x Miracle

Photobucket

Title: Magical x Miracle
Author: Yuzu Mitani
Release: Monthly
Status: Finished
Genre: Fantasy, Shoujo
Art: B
Originality: A
Story: B
Characters: B
Humor: B
Action: B

Impression: This is about a girl who gets recruited by a small group of people who work at the palace to fill in for their master wizard who has gone missing because she looks very similar to him. She has to keep this act up in order to maintain the peace in the kingdom until the real master wizard comes back. This was a pretty good shoujo manga that actually put more focus into the story than any romance subplots even though there are plenty of bishies around. It does a great job with the main character’s development and manages to pull off a degree of sympathy for some of the characters. I found that the most fascinating character was actually the master wizard himself even though he’s not around for most of the story which speaks volumes about how good the author is with her characters. The manga ended with a bit of fizzle because the climax was an entire volume before the end but I suppose it does serve satisfyingly as an epilogue albeit an unnecessarily in depth one.
