Manga Review: Kanon: The Real Feelings of the Other Side of the Smiling Face

Title: Kanon: The Real Feelings of the Other Side of the Smiling Face
Author: Key, Shimotsuki Kinuhaze
Release: Monthly
Status: Finished
Genre: Romance, Slice of Life
Art: B
Originality: B
Story: A
Characters: S
Humor: B
Action: B

Impression: It’s also known as Kanon: Each Regret of Kanon since it’s there to show what the creators intended for the true endings for each of the girls. This is basically fanservice in the form of additional material from the girls’ point of view. It adds another layer to the Key’s incredibly touching stories and manages to achieve heartwarming moments in each of the chapters. My favorite chapter was the Mai and Sayuri chapter since I always enjoy some good Yuri and seeing the normally stoic Mai confess to the bright and bubbly Sayuri really brightens my day. Those last three pages in that chapter was one of the most heartwarming moments I’ve read in a manga. It’s also got some good jokes too. Kanon fans should definitely check it out.

Sayuri is clearly my favorite of the Kanon Girls even though she didn’t get a route of her own.
