Manga Review: Dance in the Vampire Bund

Photobucket

Title: Dance in the Vampire Bund
Author: Tamaki Nozomu
Release: Monthly
Status: Ongoing
Genre: Supernatural, Seinen
Art: B
Originality: A
Story: A
Characters: A
Humor: B
Action: B

Impression: Basically the loli queen of vampires, Mina Tepes, bails out Japan’s debt and establishes a miniature nation within its territory for her kin and undoing the masquerade of the supposedly fictitious vampires at the same time. As expected, the move is not taken lightly by humans and vampires alike and there is opposition from both sides. She also has her bodyguard and lover in the form of teenage werewolf by her side to see through her rule. What exactly do people find sexy about vampires and werewolves? One sucks the life out of you and the other is covered from head to toe in hair. Seriously, why? For that matter, why werewolves with vampires? Enough about my personal bias against other peoples’ view of the two myths and onto what I think of the manga. Personally I love how the story approaches the political side of the events and Mina’s position as the leader of her people but when it comes down to the relationship between her and her bodyguard I can’t help but feel squicked by the two. I will say that this is very interesting manga with great plot and characters but is filled with enough risqué scenes and concepts to mark it down as NSFW.
