Manga Review: Metal Heart

Image

Title: Metal Heart
Author: Yoon Jae Ho
Release: Monthly
Status: Finished
Genre: Shonen, Sci-fi, Romance, Comedy
Art: B
Originality: A
Story: B
Characters: A
Humor: B
Action: B

Impression: This is about a Korean otaku who is a genius at a fighting game called metal heart and because of this he gets called in by the company who made the game in order to test out the sequel. Or so they say. The actual reason behind them calling him in would merit a spoiler tag but I’m too lazy to do so and as such I will say that for whatever reasons, the robot the company made to emulate one of the game characters ended up emulating the character in the dating sim version of the game. Now the boy, along with the company, has to go through a real life version of the game in order to reset the robot back to the default setting. It’s got an interesting set up here and while the author does play around with some tropes throughout the story, the twists range from clichéd to refreshing chapter to chapter. The general flow does work well enough to keep me interested in the story and it does show quite a bit of promise in for future chapters(whenever the scanlators get back to this) so it’s nice manga to pick up.
